Case Study: Transformative Lighting Solutions For High Point University

Project Overview

High Point University (HPU) sought to create an immersive and visually captivating environment within their Spin Room and Fitness area. CIAV was tasked with delivering a cutting-edge lighting solution to achieve a ‘WOW’ factor and enhance the overall ambiance and functionality of these spaces.

Spin Room

Objective: HPU wanted to create an extraordinary visual experience in the Spin Room that would leave a lasting impression on users.

Solution: CIAV utilized Environmental Lights’ LED NEON products, renowned for their high-quality and versatility, to achieve the desired effect. This product is a preferred choice by industry leaders like Live Nation for their venues.

Design and Implementation:

  • LED NEON Installation:
    • Soffit Surround: LED NEON was installed around the room’s soffit.
    • Instructor Platform: Edge of the platform featured LED NEON.
    • Spin Legs: Integrated into the sheetrock wall.
    • Ceiling Starburst: A striking starburst pattern emanating from the center of the back wall towards the glass wall.
  • Pixel Mapping:
    • The LED NEON was equipped with pixel mapping capabilities to create dynamic lighting effects.
    • Power Supply Management: Nearly 1000 feet of LED RGBW NEON required multiple power supplies, strategically placed in IT Room and Office Rm. 327 to minimize voltage drop and keep non-plenum rated power supplies out of the ceiling.
  • Control System:
    • DMX Decoders: Placed in the ceiling for seamless data transmission.
    • MADRIX 5 Software: Utilized for programming.
    • MADRIX LUNA DMX Controllers: Managed data communication.
    • MADRIX AURA Playback Controller: Stored lighting looks and was controlled via EXTRON touch stations.

Outcome: The Spin Room now features a sophisticated and visually stunning lighting system, elevating the user experience and creating a vibrant, engaging atmosphere.

Fitness Area

Objective: To enhance the aesthetic appeal and functionality of the Fitness area in Panther Commons with accent lighting.

Solution: CIAV chose Environmental Lights’ RGBW NEON for its consistency and color-changing capabilities, although it lacks pixel mapping.

Design and Implementation:

  • LED NEON Installation:
    • Soffit Lighting: Double lines of color-changing LED NEON were installed.
    • Mirrors 5, 6, and 7: Utilized non-NEON simulating RGBW LED tape for discreet, functional lighting.
  • Power Supply and Control:
    • Power Supplies: Strategically placed to minimize voltage drop, with enclosures required for non-plenum rated units.
    • DMX Decoders: Used for color mixing and control, hidden behind mirrors where applicable.
    • Control System: Managed via EXTRON screen for easy operation.

Outcome: The Fitness area at HPU now boasts a cohesive, color-customizable lighting system that enhances the space’s aesthetic and functional appeal.

Conclusion

CIAV successfully delivered innovative and visually impactful lighting solutions for High Point University’s Spin Room and Fitness area. By leveraging high-quality LED products and advanced control systems, CIAV transformed these spaces into dynamic and engaging environments that meet HPU’s high standards and expectations.

Case Study: AV/Technology Package Installation for Toyota Racing Development

Project Overview

Toyota Racing Development approached us with a need for a comprehensive AV/Technology package for their 2nd-floor gym area. The goal was to enhance their facilities with a modern, high-quality audio and video system that could handle various multimedia needs, including wireless presentations and digital video distribution.

Objectives

  • Install a virtual matrix video system using SVSI digital video encoders and decoders.
  • Implement wireless presentation capabilities.
  • Provide high-quality audio throughout the gym area.
  • Ensure easy control and integration with existing IT infrastructure.

Solution Provided

The solution was meticulously designed to meet the client’s needs and included the following components:

  1. Video System:
    • 5 AMX NMX-ENC-N1122A SVSI Digital Video Encoders installed in the 2nd-floor MDF.
    • 15 AMX NMX-DEC-N1222A SVSI Digital Video Decoders installed at each of the owner-furnished displays, creating a virtual matrix video system.
    • 2 Kramer VIA-CONNECT2 Wireless Presentation Appliances for video casting from two owner-furnished iPads.
  2. Audio System:
    • 4 JBL Control 30 Surface Mount 3-Way Speakers driven by a Crown 2-channel 1250W power amplifier.
