Project Overview
La-Z-Boy engaged CIAVL to design and install the AV system for its Market showroom in High Point, NC — the center of the home-furnishings industry. The scope spanned four connected zones: a marketing room anchored by three direct-view LED video walls, a merchandising area, a lobby, and a presentation-and-conferencing room La-Z-Boy calls the Comfortorium. Engineering, installation, programming, and commissioning were delivered entirely by CIAVL’s in-house team under a single point of accountability.
Challenge
A furniture-market showroom is a compressed, high-traffic selling environment where buyers and dealers evaluate product on a tight schedule. La-Z-Boy needed the space to do three things at once:
- Present product with visual impact across large-format displays
- Run marketing and digital-signage content on demand across multiple rooms
- Convert into a room for live presentations and remote conferencing
The requirement was one connected system, operated by showroom staff without an AV technician on site — not a set of isolated rooms with separate remotes and inputs.
Solution
Marketing Room — Three Direct-View LED Video Walls
The centerpiece is a set of three Newline 120” direct-view LED video walls with a bezel-less display area, driven from a single TVOne CorioMaster2 processor. The processor accepts up to twelve sources and can drive each wall as a full-screen image, a quad split of four separate images or videos, or custom graphics that span all three walls — correcting automatically for resolution and display-size mismatches. A dedicated soundbar at each wall keeps audio directional and isolated.

The Comfortorium — Hybrid Presentation and Conferencing
La-Z-Boy’s Comfortorium pairs 86” NEC displays with a Vaddio RoboSHOT PTZ camera that tracks the presenter, and a podium housing the room’s AV. Ceiling pendant speakers, Shure wireless handheld and lavalier microphones, a Biamp DSP, and BYOD USB conferencing from a presenter’s laptop are managed from an Extron control system and touch panel, with a rear-of-room confidence monitor.

Video Distribution and Control
An AVPro Edge MXNET AV-over-IP system ties every zone together. HDMI encoders and decoders run over standard Cat cabling, letting any source route to any display across the marketing, merchandising, lobby, and Comfortorium spaces. The approach eliminates a fixed matrix switcher and leaves the system open to expansion as showroom needs change. Barco ClickShare wireless presentation and BrightSign digital-signage players feed the system alongside local wall-plate inputs.

Day-to-day operation runs through Extron touch panels skinned to La-Z-Boy’s own brand. Staff select sources by zone — marketing content, digital signage, ClickShare, podium — and control display power and volume from one interface, with no AV technician required.

Outcome
The completed installation gives La-Z-Boy a single, staff-operable AV environment where content flows freely between the marketing, merchandising, lobby, and Comfortorium spaces. The direct-view video walls anchor product presentation, the MXNET backbone keeps the system expandable, and the Comfortorium supports both in-person presentation and remote conferencing from one control interface. CIAVL delivered the full scope — engineering through installation and commissioning — in-house, giving La-Z-Boy one point of accountability for the entire system.
