FAQ

Sports Facility AV — Common Questions

Can a stadium sound system cover the visitor stands without speakers on that side?

Often, yes — and it can remove the largest cost in the project. Speakers on the visitor side require mounts, conduit, and power, which frequently means trenching under the track. At North Raleigh Christian Academy we covered both sides of the field from nine home-side loudspeakers, using a long-throw box validated in acoustic modeling software before installation. Whether that approach fits your stadium depends on geometry — which is exactly what modeling determines before you commit to a design.

Do you model the system before quoting equipment?

Yes. We model stadium loudspeaker layouts in 3D acoustic prediction software under realistic outdoor conditions, and validate coverage at measurement points across the seating zones before anything is ordered. A stadium quote without a coverage model behind it is a parts list, not a design.

Can installation work around our athletic season?

Yes — that's the normal constraint for athletic facility work. We schedule stadium and gym projects around your season calendar and commission the system before your first event. The NRCA stadium system was delivered ready before the first home game of the fall season.

Do you work with high schools as well as colleges and universities?

Both. The engineering discipline is the same whether the venue seats eight hundred or eight thousand — acoustic modeling, weather-rated equipment, and systems that volunteers or student staff can operate. Our university relationships include Wake Forest, Duke, UNC, and High Point University.

What about gyms, fieldhouses, and indoor athletic spaces?

Indoor athletic venues are their own acoustic problem — hard surfaces, high ceilings, and long reverberation that destroys intelligibility. We design gymnasium sound systems around that reality, along with video displays, scoreboards, and streaming infrastructure for indoor sports.

Who performs the installation?

CIAVL employees, at every phase — design, engineering, installation, programming, commissioning, and training. We use no subcontractors. Your athletic department gets one accountable team from the first site walk through game-day handover, and the same team answers the phone during the season.
